Amsted Automotive is seeking a strategic finance leader to serve as Senior Business Unit Controller I for the SMW Division in Taylor, MI. You will partner with plant leadership to drive profitability, oversee accounting operations, and lead forecasting and financial planning activities.

The role emphasizes cost control, GAAP compliance, CapEx analysis, and making strategic recommendations to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 10+ years in Finance/Accounting.
• Strong SAP ERP and advanced Excel skills; GAAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Act as financial advisor to the General Manager and operational teams, providing insights to drive cost optimization.
• Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and strategic planning for the business unit.
• Analyze manufacturing KPIs (productivity, efficiency, scrap, throughput) and manage standard costs/variance analysis.
• Oversee monthly closing, ensure GAAP compliance, and maintain internal controls.
• Conduct capital expenditure (CapEx) analyses, make-versus-buy evaluations, and inventory analysis.
• Mentor, coach, and manage a team of finance analysts or accountants.

We’re looking for a strategic finance leader to serve as our Senior Business Unit Controller I. In this role, you will drive financial strategy, profitability, and business performance by partnering closely with plant leadership to improve operational efficiency and cost control. You will oversee accounting operations, lead forecasting and financial planning activities, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the business unit’s financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Business Partnership: Act as a financial advisor to the General Manager and operational teams, providing insights to drive cost optimization.

• Other activities as directed by the Sr. Director of Finance - Operations.

Work Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong analytical skills, understanding of GAAP, and ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting.
• CPA or CMA preferred

Experience

10+ years in Finance/Accounting.

• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze large, complex data sets to identify trends and validate data accuracy.
• Communication: Ability to interact with production floor personnel and present findings to management.
