Job summary

Amsted Automotive Group, Powder Metal in Geneva, IL, is seeking a Team Leader to oversee a shift of plant personnel under the Production Supervisor, supporting efficient operations.

This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement, with opportunities for training and mentorship, ESOP and comprehensive benefits outlined. You will help ensure product quality and on-time delivery while maintaining a safe, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Experience in production machine operation; supervisory or lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduling work cells as directed by Production Manager.
  • Assist others with set-up machines and adjust as required including calibrated gauging and chucking equipment.
  • Trouble shoot problem jobs with the tool room, engineering, quality and production control.
  • Monitor production runs for correct set-up operation and product quality, tooling and gauging.
  • Complete work center audits.
  • Use calibrated precision measuring instruments and blueprints, monitor SPC functions and assist operators as required.
  • Print handling units and monitor ERP data.
  • Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
  • Assist with training employees and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Load/unload trucks as necessary.
  • Promote and follow all safety rules, conduct safety training and assist with Near Miss program.
  • Promote and assist with EDIS program.
  • Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if you don’t understand.
  • Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
  • Use various testing devices, chemicals and material moving equipment according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
  • Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
  • Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE ROLE

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for those with specific physical restrictions.

Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds occasionally.

Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, dirt, oil and grease, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable. Full‑time position. May require some overtime and weekend hours.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

Experience: Previous experience required in production machine operation. Prior supervisory or lead person experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility: Lead responsibility for checking, assigning and delegating work for up to 30 subordinate regular and contract employees on all shifts. No final responsibility for hiring, firing or discipline.
