Job description

Sequoia Media Group (SMG) is one of the fastest growing performance agencies in the country, and we got here by approaching what an agency can do for its clients in a whole new way.

We launched in 2023 with a simple conviction: A siloed approach to media is obsolete. Most agencies call themselves media agnostic and then run television, radio, digital and print out of separate rooms that never talk to each other. We built integrated linear and digital teams from day one, because the channels only work when they work together.

We also own our stack. Creative production, call center, data management. All in-house. Legal and compliance review is in-house, through our CASE Legal Media division. That means no waiting on outside vendors, and none of the dreaded three-week legal review that kills momentum on a hot campaign. When a client says go, we go.

We operate out of Austin, Chicago and San Diego, and we are building toward something bigger, namely an agency that pairs the credibility and expertise of legacy direct response with the automation, efficiency and client empowerment of a modern technology company.

That is the company you would be selling. It is a good one to sell.

The opportunity

This is a role for someone looking for limitless growth in an agency that is actively bringing new and innovative ideas to the performance advertising space.

We are seeking a sales leader. someone who can drive revenue personally and help build and strengthen our business development department as we scale. You will own the full arc, building client trust from a first conversation, moving that relationship through proposal and RFP, and closing. Then staying close enough to the account that the client’s second campaign is bigger than their first.

You will work remotely, with real autonomy over how you build your pipeline. You will also be part of a team that shows up with energy every day, shares wins, and moves fast together, so the person who thrives here is the one who is genuinely motivated by that, not the one who disappears into a CRM for six weeks.

What you’ll do
  • Source, develop and close new business across our performance advertising practice
  • Own the sales cycle end to end — discovery, proposal, RFP response, negotiation, close
  • Build genuine trust with prospects and clients; become the person they call first
  • Serve as a proactive account leader post-close, identifying growth opportunities inside existing relationships
  • Partner with strategy, media, creative and analytics teams to build proposals that are credible and win
  • Help shape the business development function itself: process, playbooks, pipeline discipline, and eventually people
  • Represent SMG at industry events and bring market intelligence back to the team
Who you are

You approach your work with integrity— you sell what we can actually deliver, and you tell a client the hard thing when it is true.

You lead with empathy— you listen for what a client actually needs before you build them a proposal, and you understand your colleagues’ constraints as well as your own targets.

You operate with a continuous improvement mindset— you study your losses as closely as your wins, and you would rather be corrected than comfortable.

You are also:

  • An experienced closer with a demonstrable record of new business wins, ideally in media, advertising, performance marketing or direct response
  • Comfortable with the numbers — CPA, CPL, ROAS, media efficiency — and able to hold a strategy conversation, not just a relationship one
  • Disciplined enough to run your own week without a manager standing over you, and collaborative enough to pull the whole team into a pitch when it is the right call
  • A strong writer and presenter; RFPs are won on substance and clarityEnergized by a fast-paced environment where the answer to a good idea is usually “let’s test it”
Preferred:

experience in direct response, lead generation or other performance-driven verticals. Existing relationships with brand-side or agency decision makers.

What we offer
  • Competitive salary and unlimited growth potential
  • Fully remote, with travel for client meetings and industry events
  • A seat at the table in a company still early enough that what you build becomes how we do it
