Job summary

The Texas Education Agency seeks a senior Business Analyst to support multiple projects that improve student outcomes through major enhancements and rewrite efforts. This role serves as the conduit between customer programs and the software development team throughout the SDLC.

The position is contract-based, located in Austin with a hybrid work arrangement including up to 80–100% remote work. Normal hours are 9:00 to 3:30, with in-person or webcam interviews and a focus on elicitation,

Qualifications

• Experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements.
• Experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs).
• Business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement experience.
• Experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices.
• Experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices.
• Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Demonstrated strong writing and organization skills.
• Documented work experience with Atlassian Jira.
• Documented work experience with Modern Requirements.

Responsibilities

• Elicitation & Analysis - Analyzes user needs, business processes, pain points, and computer system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems.
• Requirements Writing & Visual Output - Transforms information from elicitation sessions into business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, software requirements specifications documents, wireframes, and mockups.
• BA Best Practices & Mentorship - Acts as a mentor to peers and colleagues in disseminating best practices and proactively seeks out training opportunities.
• Using TEA Tools Effectively- Uses TEA tools, such as Jira and Modern Requirements, to manage the change control process, participate in the SDLC, and track and communicate requirements status.
