Job summary

Sistema Technologies is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support a Texas Education Agency project on an 11-month contract in Austin, TX. The hybrid role may require onsite work at the client site with substantial remote work flexibility.

The BA will elicit requirements, write specifications, develop user stories, and ensure alignment with business needs throughout the SDLC, mentoring peers and leveraging TEA tools like Jira and Modern Requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements.

Sistema is looking for a Business Analyst with our government client based in Austin, TX for an 11-month position.

This Hybrid position may require onsite work at our client’s site in Austin, TX, with the option to work up to 80% - 100% remotely.

The Business Analyst (BA) position at the Texas Education Agency works on multiple projects that support the mission of the agency of improving outcomes for Texas students, with a focus on major enhancements and/or rewrite effort.

This position will perform advanced, senior-level business analysis work. The business analyst serves as the conduit between the program/customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow. This BA will be involved at some level throughout the entire software development life cycle. Upon establishment of the requirements baseline, the focus is shifted towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements, including requirements for enhancements post-implementation.

Essential Functions:

1. Elicitation & Analysis - Analyzes user needs, business processes, pain points, and computer system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems. Elicits requirements using joint application development (JAD), interviews, document analysis, surveys, use cases, competitive product analysis, and workflow analysis.
2. Requirements Writing & Visual Output - Transforms information from elicitation sessions into business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, software requirements specifications documents, wireframes, and mockups. Uses standard templates and simple, unambiguous, and concise natural language.
3. BA Best Practices & Mentorship - Acts as a mentor to peers and colleagues in disseminating best practices and proactively seeks out training opportunities.
4. Using TEA Tools Effectively - Uses TEA tools, such as Jira and modern requirements, to manage the change control process, participate in the SDLC, and track and communicate requirements status.
