Role: Senior Business Analyst

This is a remote position but strongly prefers candidates who live around Austin, TX.

Overview

A public sector client in Austin, Texas is seeking a Senior Business Analyst for a 4-month remote contract that could extend.

The Senior Business Analyst will support complex technology projects within the Mainframe Transformation Program, including gathering and documenting requirements, analyzing business processes, and supporting SaaS/COTS applications, data migration, and Data Warehouse development. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to ensure deliverables meet established standards. This position requires a high degree of independence and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
• Facilitate requirements elicitation sessions.
• Prepare documentation such as traceability matrices, use cases, prototypes, and data models.
• Assess production support issues and document solutions.
• Define functional design specifications and review technical packages.
• Lead and support UAT, training, and implementation activities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve business problems.
• Ensure quality standards in documentation and deliverables.

Note: Candidates who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on software development projects.
• 8+ years in requirements elicitation, client management, and technical documentation.
• 8+ years facilitating sessions with business and cross-functional teams.
• 8+ years assessing production support issues.
• 8+ years analyzing business and functional requirements and designing technical specifications.
• 8+ years guiding UAT, training, and implementation.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office, Visio, SnagIt, Adobe Illustrator, or Axure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with mainframe environments, SQL, Salesforce, Remedyforce, Java/J2EE, and relational databases.
• Experience with process improvement methodologies.
• Proven ability to lead change and optimize processes.
• Industry experience in Oil and Gas, Compliance, and Enforcement projects.
• Strong conflict resolution and team management skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
