Job summary

Retained is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to lead discovery, requirements definition, and process analysis across data, analytics, ERP, and transformation initiatives. You will partner with senior leaders, SMEs, and technology teams to translate business needs into actionable requirements.

Qualifications

• 17–20 years of experience in business-facing roles such as Business Analyst, Senior Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Process Consultant, or similar business-facing role.
• Extensive experience leading business discovery, requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, process analysis, and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with senior executives and functional leaders, including CFOs, CIOs, Finance, Operations, IT, and Data leadership.
• Strong understanding of business intelligence, reporting, KPIs, data quality, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead business discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops with business leaders, SMEs, data teams, and technology teams.
• Analyze and document current-state business processes, workflows, pain points, business rules, decision flows, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Translate business objectives and challenges into clear functional, data, reporting, analytics, and ERP-related requirements.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across Finance, Operations, IT, Data, Supply Chain, and other business functions to understand priorities and align requirements with broader organizational goals.
• Develop process maps, business requirements, functional requirements, use cases, workflows, and other supporting documentation.
• Work closely with SMEs to develop a deep understanding of business processes and operational context before moving into solution design.
• Facilitate stakeholder reviews, requirements validation, prioritization, and formal sign-offs.
• Partner with technical and solution teams to ensure proposed solutions accurately address business requirements.
• Identify gaps, inefficiencies, data challenges, and opportunities for process improvement or automation.
• Support solution validation, testing, and implementation activities to ensure business requirements are successfully delivered.
• Help define and validate reporting requirements, KPIs, metrics, data definitions, and business rules.
• Communicate complex business, process, and data concepts in a way that is easily understood by both business and technical audiences.
• Challenge assumptions constructively and help stakeholders reach consensus when priorities or requirements differ.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced, business-facing analyst who excels at working with senior leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and technology teams to understand how the business operates today, uncover challenges and opportunities, and translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 17–20 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Senior Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Process Consultant, Business Process Analyst, or similar business-facing role.
• Extensive experience leading business discovery, requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, process analysis, and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with senior executives and functional leaders, including CFOs, CIOs, Finance, Operations, IT, and Data leadership.
• Strong understanding of business intelligence, reporting, KPIs, data quality, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics concepts.
• Experience supporting ERP-driven business processes; JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (E1) experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting financial reporting, operational reporting, analytics, data transformation, or AI-enabled business reporting initiatives.
• Background within manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, logistics, finance transformation, or operational reporting environments.
• Strong process mapping, requirements documentation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to facilitate conversations across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Demonstrated ability to build consensus and navigate complex or competing business requirements.
• Ability to simplify complex business, process, and data concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable working extensively with SMEs and business stakeholders to understand the business context before recommending or defining solutions.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with JD Edwards / EnterpriseOne (E1) or similar enterprise ERP platforms.
• Exposure to enterprise data and analytics modernization initiatives.
• Experience working across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and IT organizations.
• Experience supporting transformation initiatives involving BI, analytics, ERP modernization, data platforms, or AI-enabled reporting.
• Experience working in complex manufacturing or distribution environments.
