Job summary

Harris County is seeking a Building Engineer responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure functioning facilities. The role involves hands-on work across county facilities and may require driving to multiple sites, supervisory duties when needed, and after-hours availability.

The position requires five years of hands-on experience in building engineering operations and contract management, plus a license and security

Qualifications

• Five years of hands-on experience in building engineering operations and contract management for commercial/industrial facilities.
• One year of experience with Microsoft Office suite, spreadsheets, and database applications.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain CJIS clearance and pass security checks; position is Safety Sensitive and may require random drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, and maintain machinery, equipment, and systems in Harris County facilities following City, County, and State guidelines.
• May drive a personal or county vehicle to various work sites; assume supervisor duties when supervisor is absent; train less experienced co-workers.
• May be on call after hours; perform other duties as assigned.
