Job summary

The City of Bellevue is hiring a Senior Building Plans Examiner to review and evaluate building plans for compliance with local, state, and national codes. You will work across departments within Development Services and may manage multi-permit projects.

Ideal candidates have three+ years of plan review experience, an ICC Plans Examiner certification, and a two-year degree. Hybrid schedule with on-site work near Bellevue City Hall is offered.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of building, accessibility, energy and other construction codes.
• Ability to read and understand complicated construction plans.
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on efficient, compliant solutions.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and evaluates a full range of routine to complex construction plans for code compliance.
• Mentors and trains other review staff to ensure consistent code interpretation and application.
• Coordinates plan reviews, inspections, and enforcement actions with multiple departments.
• Provides project management for large multi-permit projects when required.
