Qualifications include two years in construction trades or an associate degree, plus ICC plan examiner certification within a year. The role covers a range of residential and small-occupancy projects and requires collaboration with multiple departments.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in construction trades as contractor, building inspector, or plans examiner.
  • Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree with relevant architecture/engineering coursework.
  • Ability to obtain ICC plan examiner certification within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Technical review of construction plans for code compliance and safety.
  • Interact with architects, engineers, contractors, and the public to explain code requirements.
  • Enter plan review data and coordinate with permit and inspection teams; issue conditions as needed.
  • Research and interpret building, fire, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing code items.
  • Assist with temporary occupancy approvals and Certificate of Occupancy processes.
