Job summary

New York Blood Center in New York State seeks a mechanically savvy Maintenance Mechanic to perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building duties. You will help ensure all equipment runs efficiently while rotating on-call with other mechanics.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and 2 years’ hands-on maintenance experience, with a valid driver’s license and strong communication skills. Overtime eligibility and shift incentives are possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years’ building maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders for electrical components, plumbing fixtures, ceiling tiles, and general carpentry.
• Build storage spaces, office spaces, sidewalks, retaining walls, and hallways.
• Inspect rooftops, walls, light fixtures, drains, and other areas for preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and locate malfunctions.
• Handle plumbing tasks involving copper, PVC, brass and stainless materials.
• Evaluate refrigeration system performance and repairs as needed.
• Organize work assignments and small projects with multiple mechanics.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS) and Isensix System.
• Maintain records and logs; prepare reports.
• Handle other related functions as needed.
