Job summary

Bureau Veritas in the United States seeks a Building Inspector to ensure safety, compliance, and quality of construction projects within our communities. You will conduct inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties, verify code compliance, review plans, and document findings to support stakeholders.

The role requires ICC certifications or the ability to obtain them, a high school diploma, strong analytical skills, excellent communication, a valid driver's license, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; construction inspection experience preferred.
• ICC Residential/Commercial Certifications or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• Knowledge of local, state, and national building codes and standards.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with documentation/reporting software and digital tools.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple job sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties for code compliance.
• Review plans, blueprints, and specifications for regulatory compliance and identify discrepancies.
• Inspect during construction phases to evaluate structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, energy/green code, accessibility, and safety.
• Document findings and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors to address compliance issues and corrective actions.
• Respond to inquiries about building codes, regulations, and inspection processes.
• Stay updated on code changes and participate in training to maintain knowledge.
• Issue permits and assist in plan checks as certified.
• Support colleagues and junior staff; train new inspectors as needed.
• Represent the department professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
