Job summary

SAFEbuilt, Inc. seeks an experienced Level III Building Inspector in North Carolina to perform daily field inspections on complex commercial projects in accordance with the NC State Building Code and local regulations.

The role requires reviewing plans, identifying deficiencies, and communicating corrective actions to contractors and design professionals, while maintaining detailed inspection records and reporting. Travel to sites is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in commercial building construction, inspection, code enforcement, or a related field.
• Current North Carolina COQB Level III Building Inspector certification required.
• Additional NC Level II/III certifications in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and/or Fire Prevention preferred.
• ICC commercial trade certifications are a plus.
• Experience inspecting large-scale commercial facilities, data centers, hospitals or complex projects preferred.
• Willingness to travel to inspection sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections of commercial, industrial, institutional projects to ensure NC Building Code compliance.
• Inspect building construction and systems across various stages.
• Inspect large-scale commercial facilities, including data centers and mission-critical projects.
• Review plans and specifications to verify code compliance.
• Identify deficiencies and communicate corrective actions to contractors and design professionals.
• Coordinate with other inspection disciplines for cross-field compliance.
• Communicate findings to contractors, engineers, architects, and clients.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare reports.
• Provide code interpretation guidance to stakeholders.
• Stay current with NC building codes and regulatory changes.
