Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker to perform general repairs within the county facilities, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical and HVAC tasks. The role requires at least 3 years of related experience and a high school diploma or GED.

License is preferred, and the ability to communicate clearly with the public and colleagues is important. Starting pay is $20.71–$25.89 per hour.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED.
3 years job related experience.
Basic working knowledge of plumbing and carpentry; specific knowledge of commercial electrical and HVAC systems. License preferred.
Good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.

Responsibilities

Assist with general repairs within the facility including, basic electrical, plumbing, preventative maintenance, assembling and moving furniture as needed.
Repairs HVAC and electrical equipment as required.
Makes necessary repairs to building facilities.
Installs and repairs electrical wiring as needed.
Maintains routine check on general conditions of all buildings.
Assists in the preventative maintenance of all systems.
Trains and/or assists other employees with their duties.
Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
