Job summary

SOCOTEC, Inc. is seeking a Principal, Building Envelope in New York to provide executive leadership within the New Construction practice.

You will oversee high-profile building enclosure projects, mentor staff, and drive innovation and market growth across the NYC area and beyond. The role combines advanced technical expertise with strategic business leadership, ensuring technical excellence, client satisfaction, and strong financial performance while guiding project delivery and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Science, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in building envelope consulting, design, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), or equivalent licensure.
• Demonstrated expertise in new construction, building enclosure systems, forensic investigations, rehabilitation, commissioning, and construction consulting.
• Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, ASTM, AAMA, NFRC, and industry standards.
• Proven experience leading complex consulting projects, managing executive-level client relationships, and developing new business opportunities.
• Experience mentoring multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Ability to travel regionally and nationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership and business development for the Building Envelope practice.
• Develop and maintain executive-level client relationships.
• Drive proposals, presentations, contract negotiations, and strategic pursuits for complex consulting projects.
• Serve as the relationship manager for key client accounts and expand client relationships.
• Manage the financial performance of the practice including forecasting and resource planning.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to establish business strategy and long-term objectives.
• Represent SOCOTEC through industry organizations, conferences, and thought leadership initiatives.
• Provide mentorship to Associates and senior consultants and support recruitment and workforce planning.
