Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates seeks an engineering or architecture professional with building sciences experience in investigation, design, and repair of building envelope systems to support and grow our enclosure practice. Duties include building diagnostics, moisture intrusion testing, fenestration assessments, and drafting construction documents for roof and enclosure refurbishment.

5+ years' experience and a professional license are preferred; IIBEC/ABAA certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Building Envelope, Roofing, Facilities, and/or Waterproofing consulting.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR.
• Experience on elevated work platforms and scaffolding for mid- to high-rise facades and roofs.
• Professional certifications (IIBEC, ABAA, AAMA) are highly valued.
• Working knowledge of building enclosure systems and basic structural concepts.

Responsibilities

• Perform building envelope diagnostics, including roofing, facade testing, and distress studies.
• Direct field investigations: moisture intrusion, NDT, fenestration testing.
• Prepare construction documents for roof replacement and enclosure refurbishment.
• Develop technical content and reports aligned with quality standards.
• Participate in business development and client presentations.
