Job summary

JLL, a leading real estate services firm, seeks an experienced Chief Engineer for a Class A office building in New Orleans. The role oversees all building systems, leads the engineering team, and ensures safe, efficient operations with a Monday–Friday schedule and on-call rotation.

You will manage budgets, develop maintenance plans, supervise staff, and coordinate with clients. The position requires 7+ years of related experience, EPA/CFC certification, and a valid driver license.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience in chief or assistant chief engineer roles.
• Proven people management experience leading a team.
• Trade school, union training, military service or college is desirable.
• Universal CFC EPA certification held.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with ladders up to 30 ft.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems.
• Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, coaching and development.
• Create and routinely update a documented preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance plan.
• Participate in client-facing and property team communications.
• Lead and manage the engineering budget and participate in the operating budget process.
• Assist in developing a capital improvement plan.
• Direct contractors; monitor and document performance.
• Respond to emergencies and service calls.
• Lead ongoing technical, safety, and operations training programs.
• Perform other duties as requested by property management or client.
