Job summary

Elliott-Lewis Corporation in Center City, Philadelphia, PA, seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the central plant operations and oversee maintenance staff.

Responsibilities include planning, organizing, directing daily operations, supervising mechanics, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with codes. The role requires strong leadership, extensive mechanical systems experience, and excellent communication with clients and staff.

Qualifications

• Technical or trade school training in mechanical systems.
• Minimum of 7 years field experience in commercial mechanical systems operation, repair and maintenance, including boiler, chiller and control systems.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing and supervising building maintenance personnel.
• Ability to read and apply blueprints, specifications, operations and maintenance manuals, and control drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients, administration, and maintenance personnel.
• Experience with troubleshooting, operation, replacement, repair and maintenance of mechanical systems and controls.
• Computer skills, experience with CMMS is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, train, develop and direct the daily operation of the central plant, building utilities and maintenance; supervise and administrative authority for the service area.
• Oversee and supervise the Maintenance Mechanics.
• Receive work orders, assign services, close out work orders and report on service completed.
• Coordinate service and repair with contractors; solicit quotes for site repairs and services.
• Coordinate activities with other departments; ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Implement operation and maintenance of building equipment and systems; preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain energy conservation programs and inventory of repair parts; manage fire protection systems and alarms.
• Provide 24/7 emergency and service response; ensure quality assurance and training.
