Job summary

The Building People is seeking a Senior Building Controls Technician to advance smart building automation projects. The role focuses on programming, configuring, and testing DDC systems for real‑world facilities, with independent work under limited supervision.

Responsibilities include design and testing of control software, commissioning, and coordinating with customers and engineers. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of programming, startup and commissioning of control systems.
• Niagara N4 certification required.
• Experience with multiple manufacturers of controls is a plus.
• Technical knowledge with installation of controls equipment and related devices.
• Strong knowledge of DDC communications protocols (BACnet, LON, Modbus).

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer control system hardware and software programming per project plans.
• Program projects with varying levels of complexity.
• Troubleshoot networks, databases and repair programming.
• Collaborate with engineering on system configuration and software requirements.
• Develop and configure sequences of operations and third-party integrations.
• Maintain project documentation and redlines.
• Provide owner training as required by the project.
• Execute system commissioning and functional testing.
• Assist in installation of control hardware and startup new installations.
• Provide project management support interfacing with customers.
• Supervise subcontractors and suppliers as needed.
• Educate junior technicians through on-the-job training.
