The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Senior Building Controls Technician to provide services related to the expansion, upgrade, or replacement of building automation hardware and software for smart building infrastructure. The position requires working independently to meet project requirements with limited supervision. Responsibilities include programming, configuring, and testing Direct Digital Control (DDC) building automation and control systems.

Responsibilities/Duties
  1. Design and engineer control system hardware and software programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  2. Program projects with various levels of complexity.
  3. Perform network troubleshooting, database troubleshooting, and repair programming.
  4. Collaborate with the engineering team on system configuration, network and software requirements, graphics, programming, and sequences of operations.
  5. Develop and configure sequences of operations, programming, graphics, database, network, and third-party system integrations.
  6. Maintain accurate project documentation and redlines.
  7. Provide owner training as required.
  8. Execute system commissioning and functional testing.
  9. Assist in installation of control hardware.
  10. Start up and commission new hardware installations.
  11. Provide project management assistance and interface directly with customers.
  12. Supervise subcontractors and suppliers as needed.
  13. Mentor lower-level technicians through on-the-job training.
  14. This position requires a minimum of 25% travel.
Required Skills
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  3. Programming skills.
  4. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  5. Experience with electronics and electrical circuits.
  6. Understanding of tools and safety protocols.
  7. Customer service skills and teamwork ability.
  8. Knowledge of DDC Control Theory and HVAC applications.
  9. Familiarity with DDC communication protocols such as BACnet, LON, Modbus.
Required Experience/Education
  1. At least 3 years of experience with programming, startup, and commissioning of control systems.
  2. Niagara N4 certification.
  3. Experience with multiple control manufacturers is a plus.
  4. Knowledge of control equipment installation and ancillary devices.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to climb, crawl, and work at heights.
  2. Willingness to lift up to 35 pounds.
