Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a skilled Commercial Controls Technician to diagnose, repair, install and commission building automation systems. You will troubleshoot complex control networks on HVAC equipment, perform detailed testing, and mentor junior technicians on site to maintain high standards of workmanship.

This role emphasizes direct customer engagement, safety leadership, meticulous documentation, and collaboration with project teams to propose retrofits, upgrades, and energy-saving

Qualifications

• Four or more years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in HVAC.
• Vocational school or associate degree in a technical field, or two years of related service experience.
• Proven ability to install and service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
• Effective communication to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites.
• Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
• Strong writing skills and understanding of programs and software applications.
• Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, and building subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs complex control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of various electronic or digital controls.
• Consults with customers, provides field proposals for retrofits and assists sales with technical recommendations.
• Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution and reports issues to management.
• Provides sketches of field changes for engineering corrections and drawings.
• Communicates with customers on arrival and before leaving, ensuring high satisfaction.
• Trains customers in control system operations and delivers manuals.
• Mentors technicians on building automation systems and certs.
