Job summary

University of Missouri-Columbia Campus Facilities Operations seeks a Building Controls Systems Technician III to maintain and repair campus automation systems. You will install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and protect distributed control networks across university buildings, ensuring energy efficiency, safety, and reliability.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma with technical training or college-level study, plus several years of experience in building automation and electronic control

Qualifications

• High school graduate with one year of university or technical training in electronics, electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in maintenance, installation and repair of distributed automation systems.
• Must complete the skill assessment required in the Building Controls System Technician Employee Development Program within six months.
• Knowledge of building codes is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Valid State of Missouri Driver's License required.
• Physical capability: lift up to 50 lbs, work in ladders or confined spaces as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair microprocessor based distributed automation systems and electrical control equipment.
• Calibrate instrumentation, meters, valves, damper actuators and controllers as required.
• Repair and maintain variable speed drives and site-wide communication networks.
• Commission and troubleshoot distributed automation systems using PC software.
• Observe safety requirements related to equipment operation.
• Assist with training Building Controls Technicians in lower classifications.
• May prepare cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance records.
