Job summary

Tew & Taylor, a trusted name in building code inspections and plan review across Florida, seeks a skilled Plan Reviewer for our St. Petersburg area.

You will review construction plans to ensure Florida Building Code compliance and work with clients, contractors, and authorities to facilitate permitting and construction. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in plan reviews, strong knowledge of Florida Building Code, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in building code plan review or related field.
• Plans Examiner certification or ability to obtain within 6 months (preferred ICC or Florida Board).
• Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy).
• Ability to read/interpret blueprints and construction docs.
• Excellent client-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed reviews of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans for code compliance.
• Provide clear feedback to clients on corrections or clarifications.
• Ensure reviews meet same-day or next-day service commitments.
• Communicate with contractors, design professionals, and permitting officials to resolve issues.
• Stay updated on building code changes and apply them to reviews.
• Maintain accurate records and coordinate with inspection team for seamless workflow.
