Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a financial or business discipline) or 7 years of relevant work experience.
• Ten (10) years of experience performing analyses in finance and accounting functions such as Budget Formulation, Justification, Execution and Tracking/Review.
• Two (2) years of experience working in an SAP environment.
• Knowledge of budget related laws, regulations, and methods to work with DoD and IC counterparts.

Responsibilities

• Perform extensive analysis and research on business process errors/failures and resolve.
• Document procedures identified and train others on steps in resolving complex matters.
• Review policy and recommend changes to the business process.
• Understand and communicate DoD budgeting and financial regulations.
• Perform budget execution involving annual and multi-year Air Force and DoD appropriations.
• Oversee, update, track, and reconcile financial and budget execution information.
• Obtain, compile, and summarize information for use by others.
• Make daily decisions concerning tracking of financial transactions and recommend solutions to budget problems.
• Use automated budgetary system(s) in budgeting assignments.

Leffler Consulting is seeking a Senior Budget Analyst (SME) – Special Projects to join our team in Washington, DC. The candidate will provide budget analysis and complex issue resolution to the Air Force. An active TS/SCI clearance (JAFAN eligible) adjudicated within the last six years is required.

Duties

• Gain an understanding of the unique program business processes and establish relationships
  with stakeholders
• Perform extensive analysis and research on business process errors/failures and resolve
• Document procedures identified and train others on steps in resolving complex matters
• Review policy and recommend changes/improvements to the business process
• Understand and communicate DoD budgeting and financial regulations
• Perform budget execution involving annual and multi-year direct and reimbursable Air Force and DoD appropriations
• Oversee, update, track, and reconcile financial and budget execution information
• Obtain, compile, and summarize information for use by others
• Make daily decisions concerning tracking of financial transactions and recommend solutions to
  complex budget problems
• Use automated budgetary system(s) and computer-generated products in accomplishing
  budgeting assignments
• Perform other duties as assigned to support corporate initiatives

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a financial or business discipline) or 7 years of relevant work experience

Required Experience

• Ten (10) years’ experience performing analyses in various finance and accounting functions such as Budget Formulation, Budget Justification, Budget Execution and Tracking/Review
• Ten (10) years of experience using a federal financial/accounting system, preferably with
  updating accounts, records, reports, and controls
• Two (2) years of experience working in an SAP environment
• Knowledge and skill in budget related laws, regulations, and methods to work in a dynamic
  environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD, military/civilian personnel, and industry partners
• Experience performing extensive analysis and research on business process errors/failures, to
  include integrated business/process resolutions
• Experience producing professional and accurate reports and documents
• Develop solutions for process breakdowns and present the findings to senior leaders
• Possess a high degree of initiative requiring minimal supervision
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel programs
