Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus three years of progressively responsible professional experience in public budget development, financial analysis, or fiscal administration.
• Master's degree in business or public administration, or a CPA, is highly desirable.
• Experience in public agency budget development and financial analysis is required.
• Ability to translate departmental finance jargon into a narrative understandable by Council members and the public.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating the City's annual budget from department submission through Council adoption; verifying narrative and numbers for accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
• Forecasting and tracking revenue at midyear, one year, and five years out, including property and sales tax projections with outside consultants.
• Maintaining fund schedules under those forecasts.
• Writing and refining the budget narrative for Council and the public so the story matches the ledger.
• Managing relationships and contracts with outside financial and revenue consultants.
• Supporting fee studies and cost allocation work as needs evolve.
• Working in CentralSquare to run reports and keep data clean at the source.
