Job summary

The City of Belmont seeks a Budget Analyst to join its Finance Department, at Management Analyst I or II level. This role builds and maintains the city’s financial foundation and supports cross‑department collaboration.

You’ll prepare the annual operating budget and Five‑Year CIP, design the budget book in Adobe InDesign, maintain the budget management system, analyze trends, and produce reports and dashboards for leadership and councils.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2–3 years in fiscal or budget‑related work, ideally in local government.
• Bachelor’s degree as stated in the qualifications of the role.

What You’ll Do

As our next Budget Analyst, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining the City’s financial foundation, including:

• Preparing theannual operating budgetandFive‑Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
• Designing and producing the City’sannual budget bookusingAdobe InDesign
• Maintaining and supporting the City’sbudget management system, providing troubleshooting, user training, and documentation
• Analyzing revenue and expenditure trends and preparingfinancial reports, dashboards, and presentations
• Coordinatingbudget adjustments, transfers, and amendments
• Maintaining accuratechart‑of‑accountsand documenting financial processes
• Supportingpayroll,financial audits, andsystem upgrades
• Researching local, state, and federal regulationsto assess financial impacts
• Collaborating with departments and agenciesto validate and share financial data
• Taking on special projects and performing other analytical assignments
