Job summary

Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) seeks a Senior Budget Analyst to handle complex financial analysis, budgeting for multiple functional areas, and strategic program decisions. The role is based at SHA’s Seattle locations and supports the agency’s mission of expanding affordable housing and strengthening communities.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, six years of public sector budgeting/finance experience, and a preferred master's or CPA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Six years of work experience in public sector budgeting, finance, accounting, or related experience.
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA license with independent audit experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting, auditing and forecasting expertise for public and private sector contexts.
  • Prepare financial forecasts for SHA funds and departments using forecasting methods.
  • Perform complex accounting and budget analyses requiring independent judgment.
  • Analyze multi-million dollar budget requests, including program plans and legislative impacts.
  • Write clear reports explaining financial matters to non-financial personnel.
  • Identify policy and program issues and financial issues.
  • Review and explain budget variances to department directors.

The position:

We’re looking for a Senior Budget Analyst to join our team! This role is perfect for someone with experience handling complex financial analysis, making program decisions, and preparing budgets for a wide range of functional areas

The Location:

101 Elliot Ave W, Seattle WA 98119

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in such fields as Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Public Administration, or related field
  • Six years of work experience in public sector budgeting, finance, accounting, or related experience
  • Relevant Master's degree and/or CPA license with independent audit experience preferred, but not required
What will you do?
  • Provide technical expertise and independent technical knowledge in accounting, auditing and forecasting practices and terminology applicable to public and private sector accounting
  • Prepare financial forecasts for SHA funds and departments using financial forecasting methodology
  • Perform varied and complex accounting and budget analyses requiring independent judgment
  • Analyze multi-million dollar budget requests, including analysis of program plans, organizational changes and legislative impacts
  • Write clear and concise reports explaining financial matters and budget issues to non-financial personnel
  • Recognize and identify policy and program issues and financial issues
  • Review, investigate, and explain budget variances to department directors
