Job summary

Cox Media Group's WFTV Orlando is seeking a Broadcast Technology Engineer to design, install, and support broadcast and media systems, blending traditional infrastructure with IT, automation, cloud, and file-based workflows.

You will partner with engineering, IT, news, and production teams to ensure reliable on-air operations, document processes, mentor staff, and lead incident response.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive experience in broadcast engineering and media technology.
• Strong understanding of signal flow, IP networking, and file-based workflows.
• Experience with NRCS, automation, playout, editing, and graphics.
• Knowledge of FCC requirements and broadcast standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot under live-broadcast conditions and communicate clearly.
• Experience coordinating software updates, backups, and change-management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve master control systems, playout, automation, and content delivery.
• Support newsroom and production workflows: NRCS, asset management, editing, streaming.
• Provide senior-level support for control room and studio systems.
• Partner with IT to support broadcast network infrastructure and security.
• Lead incident response and document root cause and corrective actions.
• Ensure security and readiness through updates, backups, DR planning.
• Create and maintain technical drawings, inventories, SOPs, and version records.
• Collaborate to design and implement workflow improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
