The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation seeks a Senior Civil Engineer (Bridges) to lead quality assurance for major bridgeDesign. You will guide engineering decisions, review pricing and consultant submissions, and help develop statewide design criteria.

Telework options may be available within Pennsylvania for this full-time role. The position emphasizes advanced engineering knowledge, with duties spanning QA reviews, technical guidance, inspections, and staff training

Qualifications

• Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance Reviews: Conduct quality assurance evaluations of bridge design and construction loading activities
• Technical Guidance: Provide engineering guidance to resolve bridge design and construction problems
• Design Evaluation: Review bridge design work, price proposals and consultant submissions to recommend appropriate actions
• Engineering Standards: Assist with development and implementation of statewide bridge design criteria and specifications
• Bridge Inspections: Inspect complex bridges to assess structural integrity and recommend repair or replacement needs
• Training Support: Develop and deliver technical training to bridge engineering staff at the Central Office and district offices
