Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation in Colonial Heights is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide expert structure and bridge engineering. The role focuses on evaluation, design, detailing and construction support for complex structures across new, maintenance and rehabilitation projects.

The candidate will ensure plans meet AASHTO and VDOT specs, act as responsible-charge engineer, and collaborate with internal teams, consultants and FHWA to deliver compliant, technically sound solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
• Experience applying civil engineering principles to structural engineering including strength of materials, statics and structural analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bridge and structure designs for new construction, maintenance and rehabilitation.
• Check structural plans for compliance with AASHTO and VDOT specifications.
