Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation in Illinois is seeking a Senior Bridge Standards Engineer to lead structural standards and bridge design analyses. The role focuses on applying the Bridge Manual guidelines and related memoranda, while guiding related design details and base sheets.

The incumbent conducts investigations of design concepts and construction procedures to improve standards. Requires licensure and relevant experience in civil/structural/bridge engineering.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois.
• Four years of experience in civil, structural, or bridge engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develops routine to extremely complex structural standards which incorporate current methods and technology.
• Produces design computations utilized in the preparation of structural plans.
• Reviews and recommends approval/disapproval of proprietary products for qualified product lists in Illinois.
• Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
