Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking a Civil Engineer V to lead the review and approval of bridge plans and construction submittals, working with consultants and in-house staff in a hybrid in-office/onsite environment in Springfield, IL.

Responsibilities

• Directs the timely review, investigation and approval of bridge plans prepared by consultants and staff.
• Directs the review and approval of construction submittals and resolves construction problems.
• Ensures compatibility of bridge designs with relevant standards, specs and policies.
• Develops, trains, motivates, and evaluates subordinates.
• Performs duties in compliance with safety rules and fosters fair treatment of employees.
