Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation seeks a Senior Repair Plans Engineer to lead complex structural repair design and rehabilitation projects. You will review designs prepared by others, conduct inspections, and prepare emergency repair plans for critical bridge structures across Illinois.

The role requires licensure as a Professional Engineer in Illinois or a Structural Engineer and at least four years of civil engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Current IL PE license or IL Structural Engineer license.
• Four years of experience in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develops structural repairs for highly complex structures with current methods and technology.
• Prepares emergency repair plans for structures damaged by vehicles or river traffic.
• Reviews repair details for completeness and adequacy.
• Provides structural expertise on defects noted during annual joint maintenance inspections of major boundary river structures.
• Performs field investigations of damaged or deteriorated structures and recommends corrective actions.
• Reviews contractor proposals involving construction methods such as shoring, bracing, and jacking.
