Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced structural engineer in the Baltimore area to lead bridge design projects, supervise junior engineers, and coordinate complex planning and analysis for transportation structures. You will develop plans, specifications and estimates, and ensure quality control across teams.

Candidates should have a PE license, 10+ years of bridge design experience, and proficiency with industry software. Preference given to those residing in the greater Baltimore area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of bridge design experience.
• PE or P.Eng license recognized by the local board.
• Proven hands-on bridge design experience.
• Experience with listed engineering software packages.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication and team skills.
• Project management experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical role on bridge design projects.
• Serve as technical specialist or PM on mid-size projects and supervise junior engineers.
• Perform complex planning, analysis and design for transportation structures.
• Develop plans, specs and estimates for bridge projects.
• Conduct quality control reviews of junior engineers’ work.
• Assist in planning and management of bridge inspections and rehabilitation.
• Lead team inspections for bridges, tunnels and related structures.
• Review load rating computations for public structures.
• Perform other duties as needed.
