This role acts as a structures lead and SME, shaping design protocols, coordinating with contractors, owners, and teams, and driving advanced analysis and innovative solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s in Civil/Structural Engineering, 15+ years’ experience, and a PE license, with strong capabilities in

Qualifications

Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
Doctorate in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred.
15+ years of structural engineering experience involving bridges or transportation structures.
Professional Engineer license with ability to obtain New Mexico licensure within six months.
Expertise in bridge analysis, design, rehabilitation, load rating, seismic design, complex geometry, or railroad structures.
Experience leading complex technical assignments and reviews.
Advanced knowledge of AASHTO and AREMA requirements.
Experience with plan development, design calculations, specs, construction documentation, and QA/QC.

Responsibilities

Serve as structures lead and subject matter expert for complex bridge and structural assignments, including design-build and alternative delivery.
Coordinate with contractor partners, owners, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver structural design on fast-track schedules.
Support national bridge practice with technical leadership, reviews, and expertise on multiple state projects.
Establish design criteria, analysis methods, modeling strategies, and technical approaches for assigned projects.
Plan and deliver structural design packages supporting construction sequencing and scheduling.
Perform advanced analysis and design for reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, earth-retaining systems, and related facilities.
Lead independent technical reviews, QC reviews, and comment resolution.
Develop technical standards, tools, training materials, and best practices for the Bridge team.
Mentor engineers and staff through design reviews and knowledge sharing.
Assist with proposals, client meetings, RFIs, and design-change management during construction.
