Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a Senior Bridge Engineer based out of Baton Rouge, LA; New Orleans, LA; or Jackson, MS. The Bridge Engineer must be highly engaged with exceptional client interaction skills and the ability to effectively work across multiple operational groups and technical disciplines. In this role, you may be asked to lead engineering teams on small to mid-size projects or serve as a team member on larger projects and perform quality control for both design calculations and plan development. You may also be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful structural projects such as bridges, highway interchanges, roadway construction, railroad infrastructure, and public spaces.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical specialist and consultant on transportation-related projects.
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing reports and developing project design elements including calculations, plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Identify and analyze principal design features and major design alternatives.
• Produce detailed, high-quality final design plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Review plans and provide quality control of technical specifications and contract documents.
• Mentor junior staff in technical design and project documentation.
• Write and negotiate proposals with clients or reviewing agencies as needed.
• Serve as a Team Leader on bridge inspection projects if required.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

• P.E. license in Louisiana, Mississippi, and/or Tennessee or ability to obtain within 1-2 years.
• NBIS Certified Bridge Inspector status or ability to obtain.
• Leadership ability through all project phases.
• Technical proficiency in bridge design, understanding of design methods, codes, and legal requirements.
• Proficiency in Microstation, OpenBridge, AASHTOWare BrR, MDX, LEAP, and other relevant software.
• Ability to review work for accuracy and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication skills for team collaboration and client interactions.
• Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and similar materials.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Master's preferred).
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience with LADOTD, MDOT, and/or TDOT.
• Professional Engineering license required.
