Job summary

Owen Thomas Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering consulting firm with offices throughout the Northeast. You will focus on bridge and transportation-related structural projects within a multidisciplinary team environment.

The role requires a NJ PE license, 7–15 years of related experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD and structural analysis software. Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.
• 7–15 years of related structural engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required in New Jersey; New York PE is a plus.
• Bridge inspection experience and certification preferred.
• Familiarity with NJDOT and/or NYCDOT, NYSDOT standards preferred.
• Strong understanding and application of structural design codes.
• Experience using structural analysis software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in developing a well-rounded structural engineering background within transportation and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering analysis and design for bridge and transportation-related structures
• Lead design efforts on simple to moderately complex assignments
• Assist with bridge inspections and site investigations to document existing conditions
• Perform site inspections for projects engineered by the office
• Complete and review structural calculations
• Assist in preparing drawings and specifications
• Support construction administration efforts by providing technical solutions during construction
• Coordinate with internal engineering teams and architectural staff
• Contribute to projects from initial investigation and design through construction completion
