BRIDGE PRACTICE

The firm, ranked Number Five by Engineering News-Record among U.S. bridge design firms, has partnered with clients on a full spectrum of bridge types—from conventional grade separations to complex river crossings, including trusses, arches, box girders, and cable-stayed bridges.

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Bridge Engineer to support our growing bridge practice in Ohio, based in Cincinnati, OH. The ideal candidate will perform conventional and complex bridge and structure designs, load ratings, and bridge inspections, and will be involved in mentoring junior engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as Technical Manager for bridge design projects.
• Manage structure tasks on conventional and complex projects from design through construction.
• Perform and manage load ratings on bridges using hand calculations and finite element methods.
• Lead, perform, and review bridge and structure designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and client requirements.
• Coordinate effectively with other disciplines.
• Develop and adhere to scope, schedule, and budget for structural tasks.
• Support proposal development with strong technical writing.
• Innovate cost-saving modifications through construction and value engineering.
• Lead bridge inspections.
• Develop and teach bridge design training courses and reference manuals.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (required).
• Master of Science in Structural Engineering (preferred).
• 7+ years of experience in bridge design, analysis, and training material development/teaching.
• Ohio P.E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months (required).
• Expertise in finite element software and other bridge design tools.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivated, flexible, with strong organizational skills.
• Background in structural engineering software, programming, VBA, etc. (preferred).
• Certified Bridge Safety Inspection (CBSI) and Fracture Critical Inspection certifications (preferred).

COMPENSATION

The approximate salary range is $85,619 to $123,612, dependent on education, experience, and location.
