Senior Bridge Engineer (Transportation)

GPI is seeking a full-time Senior Structural Engineer for our New England branch, based in Wilmington, Boston, Medford, Salem, or Portsmouth, NH. The role offers flexible work schedules, combining office and remote work, and presents a significant opportunity for career growth.

The ideal candidate will have experience with bridge design for MassDOT, other New England state DOTs, and local agencies. Key qualities include a strong work ethic, eagerness to mentor others, collaborative spirit, and ability to manage multiple projects. Current projects include designing multiple-span, large-span, and signature bridges, along with rehabilitation and repair projects involving structural design and detailing of bridges, walls, and dams.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead project design and engineering from conception through construction, including proposal prep, design, and construction documents.
2. Support expansion of engineering operations and market reach.
3. Engage in outreach efforts to retain and grow client relationships.
4. Produce high-quality engineering deliverables, including calculations and design documents.
5. Prepare plans and specifications for bidding and construction.
6. Collaborate within a team, mentor junior staff, and develop contract documents.
7. Review design criteria per relevant codes and standards.
8. Utilize software for calculations and design, including AutoCAD, AASHTOWare, Bentley Open Bridge, MicroStation, Csi Bridge, and MDX.
9. Participate in meetings, site visits, and QA/QC processes.
10. Develop cost estimates and support project management activities.
11. Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
12. Provide strategic leadership and mentorship within the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in Structural or Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• PE licensure in MA.
• 10+ years of bridge engineering experience.
• Experience with preliminary and final design, plan production, and load rating.
• Proficiency with relevant software and industry standards.
• Knowledge of AASHTO and DOT specifications.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• MassDOT experience is preferred.
