Senior Bridge Engineer (Transportation)

GPI is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our growing Western NY operations in Buffalo, NY. Responsibilities:
  1. Project management and engineering from conception to completion, including proposal preparation, design, construction documents, and construction administration under senior management guidance.
  2. Participate in expanding engineering operations and increasing market reach.
  3. Support outreach efforts for local and regional clients, maintaining and enhancing current client relationships.
  4. Apply engineering principles to produce high-quality deliverables.
  5. Prepare calculations and design documents, including plans and specifications for public advertisement and bidding.
  6. Work collaboratively in a team environment, mentoring and supporting junior personnel.
  7. Develop contract specifications and prepare bid documents.
  8. Review design criteria using relevant codes and standards.
  9. Perform and review calculations using software and hand calculations.
  10. Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
  11. Participate in meetings and prepare progress reports.
  12. Review and ensure quality assurance and quality control of engineering deliverables.
  13. Identify issues, develop solutions, and follow checking procedures.
  14. Develop and supervise cost estimates for construction documents.
  15. Attend project meetings and site visits as required.
Qualifications:
  1. BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  2. New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  3. 10 or more years of relevant experience in bridge engineering design and management.
  4. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, with leadership skills.
  5. Experience with preliminary and final design, plan production, and bridge load rating.
  6. Proficient in relevant software such as MS Office, computer drafting, and structural analysis tools.
  7. Knowledge of AASHTO and NYSDOT standards.
  8. Familiarity with NYSDOT's federally aided project process is a plus.
  9. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
