Job summary

Stantec seeks a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to support the NY Bridge and Transportation practice. You will lead bridge design squads on large-scale projects, guiding design packages and ensuring compliance with standards.

The role requires ownership of technical direction, mentoring mid-level and junior engineers, and coordinating with highway, traffic, geotechnical, and drainage teams. PE license in NY/NJ is preferred with relevant DOT experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in NY and NJ.
• Proficient in Bridge Design and able to lead multiple squads.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art bridge design codes, software and CAD standards.
• Proficient knowledge of bridge design and load rating codes and design requirements.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in a fast-paced design environment.
• Hands-on experience with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, MTA, PANYNJ.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and review of bridge components ensuring compliance with design criteria, standards and specifications.
• Provide oversight and technical overview of bridge designs; act as Package Lead or Engineer-of-Record.
• Lead design documents for NYSDOT and local agency standards.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines across highway, traffic, geotechnical, drainage, lighting.
• Monitor progress against milestones and supervise squads of engineers and CAD designers.
• Lead design-build pursuits and client development initiatives.
