Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New York PE required.
• 20+ years of bridge design experience on complex projects.
• Extensive knowledge of AASHTO, NYSDOT, NYCDOT design codes.
• Proven lead of design teams and large-scale projects.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee planning, analysis, and design of bridges and structures.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers; enforce quality control.

GPI is seeking an accomplished Senior Bridge Design Engineer with 20 or more years of experience to join our Structures group in Melville, New York. Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the planning, analysis, and design of bridge and structural projects
• Serve as Engineer of Record on major bridge projects
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality control for junior and mid-level engineers
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders, including NYSDOT, NYCDOT, and local municipalities
• Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure technical excellence and regulatory compliance
• Support business development efforts, including proposal development and client presentations
• Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to GPI's high standards of quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New York PE required
• 20+ years of bridge design experience, including significant work on complex transportation structures
• Extensive knowledge of AASHTO, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, and applicable design codes and standards
• Proven experience leading design teams and managing large-scale projects
• Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
• Experience with industry-standard structural analysis and design software

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
