Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks a Senior Structural Design Engineer with 20+ years of bridge and structural design experience to join our Structures group in Melville, NY.

This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering high-quality bridge solutions while mentoring the next generation of engineers. You will lead complex projects, serve as Engineer of Record on major bridges, provide technical guidance, coordinate with NYSDOT/NYCDOT and local agencies, and help grow GPI's bridge

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• PE license required; New York licensure required.
• 20+ years of bridge design experience on complex transportation structures.
• Experience with AASHTO, NYSDOT, NYCDOT and applicable design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the planning, analysis, and design of bridge and structural projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record on major bridge projects.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality control for junior and mid-level engineers.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders (NYSDOT, NYCDOT, local municipalities).
• Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
• Support business development, including proposals and client presentations.
• Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New York PE required
• 20+ years of bridge design experience, including significant work on complex transportation structures
• Extensive knowledge of AASHTO, NYSDOT, NYCDOT and applicable design codes and standards
• Proven experience leading design teams and managing large-scale projects
• Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
• Experience with industry-standard structural analysis and design software

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
