Qualifications

  • 12+ years experience at an agency or with brand marketing, communications, marketing strategy, social media, customer evidence, or related field
  • 10+ years experience executing a communications or marketing strategy
  • 10+ years experience with marketing and campaign management
  • 10+ years experience working cross-functionally with other teams (e.g., Design, Communications, Revenue, Customer Success, external agencies/internal)

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the brand and narrative strategy for developer-facing work across GitHub and the Microsoft developer platform.
  • Translate company strategy, product vision, audience insight, market position, and our cultural DNA into clear creative direction.
  • Build narrative and messaging systems that connect product truth, developer needs, customer evidence, technical proof, and business outcomes.
  • Ensure launches, campaigns, demos, customer stories, web, social, editorial content, field assets, and executive moments reinforce a coherent platform story.
  • Protect the distinctiveness and developer authenticity of GitHub while helping Microsoft present a more connected developer experience.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering leaders to ensure narratives are technically credible and grounded in real developer value.
  • Lead priority programs from early strategy and briefing through concept development, production, distribution, and performance review.
  • Directly shape briefs, narratives, concepts, critiques, production plans, and major deliverables.
  • Champion creative work that is clear, human, technically astute, and authentic to developer audiences.
  • Build standards, examples, and critique rhythms that make quality visible and repeatable without making the work formulaic.
  • Balance strong internal creative ownership with selective use of agencies, vendors, and production partners.
  • Own the content strategy and production model for priority launches and major developer moments.
  • Define launch tiers and content bills of materials based on audience opportunity, business importance, product readiness, narrative value, and intended behavior change.
  • Build intake, planning, prioritization, resourcing, review, and measurement mechanisms that reduce reactive production and clarify what gets made.
  • Connect launch narratives across product pages, docs, blogs, social, demos, video, executive communications, customer evidence, and field-ready assets.
  • Clarify roles, decision rights, quality standards, and partner expectations so teams can move faster without sacrificing craft.
  • Reserve premium creative attention for the moments where stronger work can materially improve reach, understanding, adoption, or brand meaning.
  • Build repeatable customer-evidence and proof storytelling capability with predictable sourcing, capture, approvals, distribution, and reuse.
  • Shape customer stories that demonstrate real product usage, developer impact, and business outcomes.
  • Partner with product, engineering, field, customer success, communications, and marketing to identify proof points early enough to influence launch narratives.
  • Develop demo and executive storytelling frameworks that communicate strategic value and workflow change.
  • Ensure priority content experiences give developers clear paths to learn, try, use, and deepen adoption of products.
  • Define success before production begins and build post-launch learning loops that improve future briefs, narratives, asset mixes, and creative investment.
