Job summary

GitHub is seeking an experienced leader to manage cross‑functional design systems and guide the Primer design system. You’ll drive the vision, align teams across design, product, and engineering, and ensure the system scales with user needs and product demands.

The role includes people management responsibilities, hiring, mentoring, and performance management, with a strong focus on inclusivity and accessibility to deliver high‑quality design across platforms.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in product or service design.
• Experience leading a Design Systems team or function.
• People management experience and cross‑functional leadership.
• Experience shipping end‑to‑end design work and tooling.
• Strong focus on accessibility and inclusive design.

Responsibilities

• Own the direction of the Primer design system with a platform POV.
• Lead long‑term vision and align leadership across design, product, and engineering.
• Embed inclusivity and accessibility in design decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to maintain high standards.
• Act as final approver for design readiness and consistency across platforms.
• Lead a cross‑functional team and mentor managers for growth.
• Track impact of the design system and report value to executives.
• Scale the system to meet evolving product needs.
