Responsibilities

  • Supports Branch Banking Supervisor in coordination of the operational functions of staff by scheduling work, providing direction, monitoring workflow, assisting with transactions, balancing, and maintaining daily cash items, maintaining supplies, opening, and closing the office, preparing reports, and resolving problems according to existing operational policies and procedures.
  • Establishes new banking relationships through conversations based on their financial needs.
  • Provides account servicing and maintenance including address changes, ATM card disputes, online banking setup and reset of passwords.
  • Coaches the team to refer bank products and services to customers by having beneficial conversations during daily transactions.
  • Opens new consumer and business accounts including CDs, IRAs, and safe deposit boxes.
  • Oversees compliance with regulations and Branch operational policies and procedures by performing audits relating to cash, monetary instrument logs, and required reporting.
  • Performs paying and receiving activities and processing work while maintaining audit standards, security, and control functions.
  • Promotes timely and courteous service by ensuring questions are answered and providing accurate service.
  • Assists in the evaluation of new staff, providing training and monitoring of performance.
  • Works with bank partners for client referrals to Merchant, Wye Financial, and Relationship Managers.
  • Represents the Bank to maintain positive relations with customers and co-workers.
  • Backs up Branch Banking Supervisor duties as needed.
  • Adheres to laws and policies ensuring an harassment-free workplace.
  • Demonstrates regulatory training compliance and supports risk management.

Shore United Bank is seeking a Senior Branch Banking Specialist to join our team. As a Branch Banking Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the Branch Banking Supervisor by coordinating the daily operational functions of the branch, ensuring exceptional customer service, and promoting adherence to regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures. This position assists in overseeing branch operations, supporting staff development and performance, and helping to maintain an efficient and compliant work environment. In addition to operational leadership responsibilities, the Senior Branch Banking Specialist actively supports branch sales initiatives and delivers outstanding service to customers through accurate and efficient transaction processing. The ideal candidate is skilled in customer interactions, asks thoughtful questions to understand financial needs, and recommends appropriate banking products and services that provide effective solutions. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to building lasting customer relationships while contributing to the overall success of the branch.

What You'll Do:

A detailed list of job duties includes (but is not limited to):

  • Supports Branch Banking Supervisor in coordination of the operational functions of staff by scheduling work, providing direction, monitoring workflow, assisting with transactions, balancing, and maintaining daily cash items, maintaining supplies, opening, and closing the office, preparing reports, and resolving problems according to existing operational policies and procedures.
  • Establishes new banking relationships through conversations based on their financial needs.
  • Provides account servicing and maintenance to include address changes, ATM card disputes, online banking setup and reset of passwords.
  • Coaches the team to refer bank products and services to customers by having beneficial conversations during daily transactions.
  • Opens new consumer and business accounts including CD's, IRAs, and safe deposit boxes
  • Oversees compliance with regulations and Branch operational policies and procedures by performing audits relating to cash, performing weekly Monetary Instrument Log (MIL) reports on money orders and official checks, conducting branch security checks of alarm and video systems, and completing required reports according to established policies, procedures, and regulations accurately and timely.
  • Performs operational duties by conducting paying and receiving activities and processing work while maintaining audit standards, security, and control functions to protect the Bank from loss.
  • Promotes timely and courteous service by ensuring questions are answered, providing friendly and accurate service, making proper referrals as necessary, meeting customer needs and expectations, uphold and meet customer service guidelines, and help Branch staff to understand and deliver these guideline standards.
  • Assists in the evaluation of new staff, provide direction, training, coaching, development, and monitoring of performance, motivate staff, and communicate changes in policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with bank partners for client referrals to Merchant, Wye Financial, Commercial Relationship Managers, Branch Lenders.
  • Represents the Bank in a manner that maintains and expands positive relations with all customers, potential customers, and co-workers.
  • Performs and provides support as the backup Branch Banking Supervisor daily in supervision duties and workflow.
  • Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
  • Proportion of time spent on each will vary depending upon branch traffic and daily staffing needs.
  • Demonstrates compliance awareness by completing all required regulatory and compliance training (e.g., BSA, CRA, ECOA) on or before deadlines, and actively supporting all policies, procedures, and practices that promote risk management, safety, and regulatory adherence.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • Full-time.
  • Non-exempt.
  • Days of Work: Monday-Friday, with rotating Saturdays (Closed Sundays and all Federal Holidays)
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Prior Teller experience required.
  • Prior experience in cash handling and customer service.
Work Environment:

This job operates in a branch office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printer/scanner/copier devices. In addition to standard office equipment, this role also uses cash and coin counters and, in some cases, a teller cash recycler. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the office or branch environment for extended periods; perform routine office tasks; communicate effectively; interact with customers and team members; and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Frequent use of standard office equipment and extended periods of viewing computer screens and reviewing detailed information are required. The role also requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend, stoop, and lift or carry materials, including up to 50 pounds of bulk coin/currency. Compensation:
  • The pay range for this position is $20.75 to $24.50 hourly.
  • Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
