Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks a Border Patrol Agent to support the USBP mission. This reemployed annuitant role offers the opportunity to return with full retirement annuity and full salary, subject to a salary offset waiver where applicable, and an expedited pre-employment process.

The position starts at $109,383 (GS-13, Step 1) to $142,199 (GS-13, Step 10). Duty locations are selected by the agency based on vacancies and operational needs.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
• Must be under age 60; age 59 cutoff for consideration.
• Must be proficient in Spanish (language requirement).
• Must pass background investigation and drug testing.
• Term appointment not-to-exceed 1/20/2029 or age 60, whichever comes first.
• Shift work/overtime required; travel possible.

Responsibilities

• Protect America's borders by enforcing immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions.
• Detect and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Operate government assets (vehicles, boats, aircraft) to perform patrols as assigned.
• Participate in typical law enforcement duties and follow proper procedures.
