Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking a Border Patrol Agent (reemployed annuitant) for a term appointment not-to-exceed 1/20/2029 or until your 60th birthday. The position starts at GS-13, Step 1, with a salary range of $109,383 to $142,199 depending on locality.

Responsibilities include protecting borders, enforcing immigration and customs laws, and apprehending unauthorized entrants and smugglers. Patrolling by land, water, and air using various government assets is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
• Language Requirement: Proficient in Spanish (read/speak).
• Firearms qualification required and ongoing.
• Background investigation and drug testing required.

Responsibilities

• Protect America's citizens, borders, and economy by enforcing immigration and customs laws.
• Prevent illegal entry and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the U.S. illegally.
• Patrol borders by land, water, or air using government assets.
• Conduct surveillance, interpret tracks and evidence, and perform checks as part of USBP mission.
