Job summary

Caterpillar Solar Turbines seeks a Consulting Engineer in Houston to lead front-end engineering and provide expert mechanical and facilities guidance for gas compression projects. You will develop design basis, review PIDs, layouts, and equipment specs, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards while coordinating with process, electrical, and procurement teams.

Ideal candidates have 15–20+ years in mechanical facilities or BOP within upstream/midstream sectors, PE preferred, and

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years in mechanical facilities or BOP in oil and gas.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Deep knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI codes governing pressure equipment.
• Experience leading front-end engineering and proposal development.
• RFQ/vendor evaluation and technical bid alignment experience.
• Pipe stress analysis (CAESAR II) experience is a major plus.
• Familiarity with process simulation tools (Aspen HYSYS, ProMax).

Responsibilities

• Lead proposal and front-end engineering with design alignment.
• Provide expert mechanical and facilities engineering guidance.
• Define mechanical design basis for complex facilities.
• Lead development and approval of PIDs, layouts, and equipment specs.
• Mentor engineers and ensure design quality.
• Support fast-paced proposal efforts with travel.
