Job summary

HarperCollins Christian Publishing is seeking a Senior Designer to join our in-house Content Design team. The role focuses on designing and typesetting 4-color lifestyle, cookbooks, children and gift books, and creating high-design book interiors from concept through proofs.

Ideal candidates have strong typography knowledge and 7+ years of experience in long-form interiors, with solid Mac-based Adobe CC skills (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).

Qualifications

• BA from a respected institution in Design, especially interior book design and typography.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in designing and typesetting book interiors for publishing or similar high-volume production.
• Professional experience designing and laying out long-form book interiors is required.
• Expertise in typography including paragraph, character, object, and GREP styles; Master Pages highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Work on 12–20 projects simultaneously based on the publishing cycle.
• Collaborate with editorial, production, and art directors on book interiors from design concept to proofs and print-ready files for complex products; 4-color experience required.
• Problem-solve and ensure timely delivery by following through on each project.
• Manage projects and report progress effectively.
• Color correct photos and illustrations; create graphs and charts as needed.
• Handle pre-press operations to prepare print-ready PDFs.
• Archive project files following established procedures and retrofit content when needed.
